Protect Our NDIS National Day of Action – Tarntanya Parliament House

Disabled people and allies are coming together this Saturday for a silent vigil to oppose the cuts the Labor government has proposed to the NDIS.

This vigil is part of a national day of action organised by the @Protect Our NDIS Alliance ahead of the upcoming Senate vote on the NDIS Bill scheduled for Friday 14 August 2026.

The Labor Government is proposing changes that will cut essential supports, and people with disability will die. If the NDIS Bill passes, it will reduce access to essential supports people rely on every day, impacting independence, safety, dignity and daily life. Over 241,000 disabled people will be removed from the NDIS, and 106,000 more disabled people will be refused access, with nowhere for them to go. The government is making a political choice to cut supports for disabled people. We have to scrap the NDIS Bill and stop these cuts!

This vigil will be held on stolen Kaurna Yarta.

Because this is a rapid-response, snap action, we have zero funding and only a few days to build a fully accessible resource hub for our disabled community. We need healthy allies and local supporters to help us source these supplies by Friday night or bring them directly on Saturday morning.

CAN YOU LEND OR DONATE TODAY? Sturdy Chairs: We need 10–12 heavy-duty plastic or wooden chairs for our seating zone (no flimsy camping chairs). Masks: Unopened boxes of N95, KN95, or P2 masks to keep high-risk attendees safe. Supplies: Cartons of bottled water, electrolyte sachets, sunscreen, and individually wrapped earplugs. If you can drop off any of these items to North Terrace at 10:15 AM this Saturday, or if you can bring them to Adelaide Activist Centre on Hindley St before Saturday, please DM us.

Accessibility Note: The event is completely flat, low-sensory, fragrance-free, and strictly silent. No shouting or chanting. We will use visual cue boards and Deaf clapping. A more comprehensive Event, Accessibility & Participation Plan will be available closer to the day.
